Pickwell Manor has some fantastic spaces for eating and drinking, whether in your apartment, out on the terrace, or cooking in our BBQ area.

If it’s possible for you to shop locally, you can help to sustain our vibrant community of independent businesses and help reduce food miles by buying their delicious local produce. If it’s a supermarket you need, then we are within easy reach of, Tesco in Braunton (EX33 2DU) and Ilfracombe (EX34 8PQ), Sainsbury’s in Barnstaple (EX31 3NH), ASDA (EX32 2BN), Tesco (EX31 2AS) or Lidl (EX32 8PB) in Barnstaple.


Our local shop

Paul and Tracey run our wonderful village shop in Georgeham. For a village store, there’s an impressive selection of goods, including fair trade and local produce, beer and wine etc. In Croyde there is also a small shop in the post office, and RUDA campsite shop stays open late.


Milks Up!

This is an absolute must visit for the freshest most delicious milk. Head to North Hole Farm on the way from Georgeham to Croyde to pick up fresh organic milk from their vending machine. Don’t forget to take the Blue milk bottle from your apartment. They also sell local veg, eggs, drinks and cheese  in the room next to the vending machine and you can say hello to baby calfs and goats in the barn.

Cawthornes

This is a small, independent supermarket that stock as much local produce as they can. For such a little shop they also have a great stock of more international ingredients and spices, gluten-free products, health foods and a wide selection of ‘Cook ’ frozen meals

Butchers

Mike Turton Butcher

From award-winning sausages to zebra (yes really!), this butcher has everything and is definitely our favourite in the area. 146 - 147 High Street, Ilfracombe, EX34 9EZ. You can call them on 01271 863643.

Reeds

A great butcher with meat sourced from local west-country farms. Their homemade pies are delicious and great for just sticking in the oven after a day on the beach for a quick and hearty meal. Their chutneys, pickles and spices are presented beautifully (they make great gifts) and they have a variety of flavours.

Fishmongers

s and p seafood and fresh fish

On Ilfracombe harbor itself next to the boats, this little fish shop is well worth a visit. Brothers Scott and Paul, are well known locally for providing the freshest sustainable fish and shellfish as it is caught direct from their own vessels keeping food miles from sea to the plate to a minimum. They have a little café run from the shop serving delicious lobster, crab and shellfish platters. Call 01271 865923 to see what is fresh in.

Passmores

Nathan and John Townsend own Passmores, a mobile fish and game shop bringing Fish and game to Braunton every Thursday in the carpark. Much of their stock is sourced locally in Devon and the South West. Game is from local shoots; call Nathan for details or pre orders on 07528243333. Please note they only take cash.


Cheese and Delicatessens

Fine Foods of Braunton

A warm welcome will await you from Peter and Amanda, who will talk you through their delicious selection of local cheeses, preserves, handmade chocolates, beers wines and spirits. They have a particularly wonderful selection of Southwest gins. They also have a little café, not to mention their bespoke hampers and gifts which make brilliant presents perfect for taking a little taste of Devon back home.

The most amazing cheese shop! It has a beautiful website, and while you can order online the shop itself is well worth a visit. They are members of the Guild of Fine Food and one of the favourite places of the Devon Food Magazine.

Greengrocers

John Patts (Braunton or Ilfracombe)

This family-run shop stocks as much local fruit and veg as possible, along with eggs, milk, baked goods and homemade preserves. You can pre-order produce to pick up from the Braunton shop on their website, just follow the link below.
